Happy New Year! 2010. What seemed like light years away 25 years ago when Dr. Heywood Floyd set out to discover the mysteries of the Monolith, Dave Bowman, and of course our friend Hal, has finally arrived with similar uncertainty and turbulence. Most of us did not journey to Jupiter, but most likely spent this past year on a journey of self-discovery. 2009 was a test of our resiliency and our flexibility, our creativity and our intensity, our honesty and our faith. What we saw was more or less what we all anticipated – one of the steepest falloffs in business activity in decades. Call it an economic meltdown or manifest destiny – it was what it was, nothing more, nothing less.

This time last year, I wrote that one should look for the opportunity, get back to basics, and deliver exceptional customer service as a means to counteract any challenge the year had to offer. This meant utilizing every resource to its fullest and working smarter. Exceeding our customers’ expectations meant listening to their shifting needs, understanding the problem and having the flexibility to respond quickly. We kicked off 2009 with the launch of Bluebeam PDF Revu 7 with more than 20 new features that did one thing - improve the way our customers work. Our goal was simple – enable our customers to do what they do better – help them be more competitive, help them be more productive, and help them provide better customer service to their clients, simply and honestly.

Today, we continue on the same path with a renewed outlook. Anticipating that the worst is over, we set out on a new, aggressive plan to expand. We will build upon the basics established in 2009. We will continue the momentum into 2010 and further enable our customers to do what they do better. For 2010 and the release of version 8, we will launch some of the most unique features to date. Our customers will have true access to a world without borders, a world without limitations, a world not defined by time or resources, but by innovation and ideas. We will change the lives of our customers so that when they look back on 2010, they will look back with satisfaction in what they achieved and feel excitement for what there is to come.

2010 will be what we make of it. This year we will excel. This year we will achieve. This year, we will ask why not and do.
