Ask Greg: Bluebeam for Large Enterprises
Bluebeam PDF Revu is designed to support large scale use within an organization. Typically, large organizations face unique challenges when implementing desktop applications. These challenges range from finding the most efficient method of deploying an application to end user workstations, to how to best configure an application for efficient use across a network. To combat these issues we’ve developed “A Guide to Implementing Bluebeam within Your Enterprise”, which describes in great detail how Bluebeam technology can best be used in an enterprise setting.
The document is broken into two parts: Installation and Configuration. If your organization can benefit from installing Bluebeam silently across multiple workstations at once, the first section of the document will help you. It covers the basic prerequisites, how registration and licensing works, and shows detailed examples of how to deploy our software by using an InstallShield Silent Setup, or an MSI Deployment Package. It even covers the upgrade process for those that want to upgrade from one version of Revu to the next.
For organizations that are interested in setting up centralized, managed network configurations for critical jobs like PDF creation and markup, the remaining sections will cover basics such as adding new page sizes, centralizing stamps, profiles, and tool sets. They will also show you how to centralize these settings on a network location for quick access, archiving, and security within your organization.
This document also provides guidance for users that are not part of a large organization, but worry about losing their custom preferences and want to know how to transfer their settings to another computer. An appendix with examples that show you how to put all of these Installation and Configuration settings into practice is included for your reference.
We hope that this document will help make your use of Revu an even easier experience.
